The prefect of police denounces a sequence which “discredits” the unit, after the passage of false Brav-M

He came to the set to explain himself. The presence of four people wrongly presented as members of BRAV-M in Cyril Hanouna’s TPMP program “casts discredit” on this unit, regretted Monday the prefect of police of Paris Laurent Nuñez guest of the show on C8 , confirming that an investigation is underway.

“There is an ongoing administrative investigation”, led by the IGPN, the police force, said Mr. Nuñez. “There will probably be a judicial inquiry that will be opened,” he added, recalling having taken legal action after the sequence.

Friday evening, on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste”, three men and a woman, hooded, a black hood on their heads and their voices modified, an orange armband marked police on their arms, presented themselves for some as members of the BRAV-M, the Brigade for the Suppression of Motorized Violent Actions. This motorcycle police unit has been under fire for several days, accused of violence against protesters against pension reform.

An ongoing administrative investigation

As “prefect of police, when I see this sequence, I consider that it discredits the BRAV-M, which I direct”, declared Laurent Nuñez, who was present on the set at the proposal of the Minister of Interior Gerald Darmanin.

“When a civil servant who has been dismissed speaks on behalf of Brav-M, for me it is a problem”, added the prefect Nuñez, also denouncing the “non-respect of the duty of reserve” of other civil servants. As of Friday evening, he announced the opening of an administrative investigation, ensuring that “the first elements in possession” of the police headquarters left “to think that these people do not belong to the BRAV-M”.

According to concordant sources at AFP, none is a member of BRAV-M. A man named Cédric, who presented himself as the spokesperson, was dismissed from the national police in December 2022.
