The philosopher Gaspard Koenig launches in the race for the Elysée

“The goal today is to give back freedom, responsibility, autonomy so that people make their decision. The philosopher Gaspard Koenig announced this Tuesday on France 2, his decision to embark on the race for the Elysee. The 39-year-old neo-candidate has the ambition to “simplify” the lives of the French, by reducing “by 100 the number of standards”, which he presents as “a bureaucratic prison”.

To justify his candidacy, Gaspard Koenig recalled having traveled the country on horseback in 2020 by staying “every night or almost at a inhabitant” and defended a “simplification” of the bureaucracy. Why ? because during his journey, it appeared to him “that people suffer from problems of administrative paperwork. It is often tragi-dramatic things that prevent them from living their life, from doing their job ”.

“This reflects a society which is extremely tense, which produces excessively standards. We are more and more caught in this real bureaucratic prison, denounced the philosopher who founded in May a political movement called “Simple”. President of the Republic, that does not make me dream. I do not have the answer to everything, I am not a savior. However, Gaspard Koenig wishes to run for the post in order to “reduce by 100 the number of standards in France” because “simplification is the mother of battles”.

The thirty-something admitted having voted Emmanuel Macron in 2017. “But in this large political space of the center in which I recognize myself, he took an extremely authoritarian attitude, he governed from above, he recentralized”, a- he lamented. The philosopher also announced his desire to “take his pilgrim’s staff” in order to seek from elected officials the 500 sponsorships necessary to become officially a candidate.
