RTL and Kassel are preparing for the live event “Die Passion”. Viewers can now make suggestions for casting roles.

After a year break shows RTL will host the performance “The Passion” live again on March 27th from 8:15 p.m. There are some innovations. And for the first time, viewers are even allowed to participate in the casting.

Who plays Barabbas?

As the broadcaster announced in a press release on Wednesday, Internet users can make suggestions for the role of the criminal Barabbas, which was played by Martin Semmelrogge (68) in 2022. From this Wednesday until January 31st you can Anyone interested can visit RTL’s Instagram page Leave your favorite candidates in the comments. The first suggestions ranged from “GZSZ” star Wolfgang Bahro (63) to “The Teacher” Hendrik Duryn (56). An exclusive backstage tour will be raffled off among participants.

Two years ago “The Passion – The Greatest Story of All Time” took place in Essen, now RTL is moving to the documenta city of Kassel. In northern Hesse, the live music event will once again stage the last days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth and be transported into the modern era with pop songs. One personality has already been determined: this time, actor and environmental activist Hannes Jaenicke (63) will take on the role of narrator instead of moderator Thomas Gottschalk (73). It is not yet known who is playing Jesus. In 2022 it was the first “DSDS” winner and musical actor Alexander Klaws (40).

We are also looking for participants for the procession. A large illuminated cross is to be carried through Kassel city center. Around 100 people are needed to carry the cross and be willing to give a short interview, as well as around 700 people to take part in the procession. Anyone interested can register at procession.diepassion.de.
