Uprooted trees, barriers and dustbins on the ground… This Tuesday morning, Emmanuel Visentin, site director, discovered an “apocalypse setting” At Bird Park of Villars-les-Dombes, in Ain, about forty kilometers from Lyon. On Monday, violent storms hit the region, causing extensive damage.
The situation forced “the exceptional closure” of the place for the whole day. A time needed to “repair the facilities that have been degraded” and to “verify that [les] birds are safe,” the teams announced in a statement. Nearly 3,000 birds are present in the park.
The reopening of the site is scheduled for Wednesday.
