The Ocean Race: Boris Herrmann and Team Malizia celebrate the second stage win at the end

Boris Herrmann and his team Malizia set another highlight at the end of the Ocean Race: The 42-year-old skipper led his crew to the second stage win on the seventh and final section.

On Tuesday Malizia reached the port of destination in Genoa at 1:17 p.m. in extremely light winds, which did not change anything in third place in the overall ranking. Herrmann’s crew needed a total of eleven days, 19 hours, two minutes and 51 seconds for the section.

The final ranking at the top will only be decided after the arrival. Because of the collision of the leading 11th Hour Racing Team from the USA with the European starter Guyot at the beginning of the stage, all other crews are to be questioned by a jury on Thursday.

Then the decision will be made on a points credit for 11th Hour Racing, which could mean overall victory ahead of the Swiss from Holcim-PRB.

“The Ocean Race was a great experience for us as a team and we would love to do it again,” Herrmann said before the final section.

The 15th edition is scheduled to take place in 2026/27, but Herrmann already has the next big project in mind by the end of 2024. Then the family man will start at the Vendee Globe for the second time and circumnavigate the world alone.
