“The Nupes is blocked”, regrets Manuel Bompard despite the “common work” on immigration

The coordinator of La France Insoumise Manuel Bompard on Wednesday noted the “blockage” of the left-wing Nupes coalition due to “deep strategic disagreements”, despite “joint work” carried out against the immigration bill.

“Let’s be honest, the fact that we are going to work together on this text of law is not going to make the deep strategic disagreements that exist today within the Nupes disappear,” said the Insoumis to the Assembly, in front of the Association of Parliamentary Journalists (AJP).

“It is not because we are going to fight together against the immigration bill that by magic, there will be a common list of Nupes in the European elections,” continued the MP for Bouches-du-Rhône , while ecologists, communists and socialists each intend to present a list.

” It’s a shame “

“The socialists have decided on a moratorium (of Nupes) which appears to be definitive”. Among the communists, I heard Fabien Roussel three or four times say that he was leaving Nupes, he really seems determined to leave it. And the environmentalists, for the moment, are stubbornly holding on to the idea of submitting their own list for the European elections,” criticized Manuel Bompard. “It’s an observation of blockage. The Nupes today is blocked. It’s a shame,” he said.

“When the Socialist Party decides on its moratorium, it says that the problem is Mélenchon. Okay, but what do you suggest? Let him disappear? Should he stop talking? This is not a reasonable proposition. A reasonable proposal is to say, we think that (…) the strategy must be in this or that way, that is a reasonable proposal in a coalition,” continued Bompard

Serial twitching

“Challenging the most identified figure of one of the components as being responsible for all evils is not an attitude that allows this coalition to move forward,” he denounced.

After a series of tensions, the left-wing Nupes coalition was torn apart over the situation in the Middle East, in particular because of the refusal of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his inner circle to qualify Hamas as “terrorist”.
