The Nintendo Switch Game Boy (Advance) Emulator has reportedly been leaked • Nintendo Connect

In the past year there were rumoursthat Nintendo is planning to add Game Boy games to its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. We’ve known for a while that there are four emulators for Nintendo Switch that are being developed by Nintendo.

kachikachi (NES), canoe (SNES), Hiyoko and count. While the first two are obvious and already in use, the other two could potentially be used for Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. Maybe Game Boy Advance too? A supposed leak strongly suggests that Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games will appear on the Nintendo Switch.

We envision the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games being included in the basic online membership while keeping the Game Boy Advance titles for the expansion pack. According to the Twitter user @trashbandatcoot Files were leaked on 4chan containing a Nintendo-developed GBA emulator codenamed “Sloop” and a Game Boy emulator called “Hiyoko”, both developed by Nintendo of Europe’s NERD (Nintendo European Research & Development) team became. The Paris-based subsidiary responsible for much of the company’s emulation efforts in recent years.

It is possible that Hiyoko is responsible for Game Boy games, while the Count emulator then plays Game Boy Color games and Sloop finally Game Boy Advance. The Twitter account of @DirectFeedGames in turn, confirms the authenticity and also Samus Hunter expresses himself favorably on the subject. In the meantime even a list of games surfaced that with sloop (Game Boy Advance) should be compatible, but will not necessarily appear. Because of royalties, copyright and so on.

There have also been videos showing that the emulators run on real hardware. Unfortunately, it is currently uncertain whether and when Nintendo will release this.

There has never been any official word from Nintendo about a possible release of Game Boy, Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance titles for Nintendo Switch. However, given the supposed leak, it could only be a matter of time.
