“The night before the first shoot, I couldn’t sleep,” says Juju Fitcats

Juju Fitcats are running around on this September afternoon. Today is the last audition session at the Théâtre André Malraux in Rueil-Malmaison, and the YouTuber interviews candidates who come off stage, then goes to put together a reaction to a message from Eric Antoine for the networks social. Without forgetting that five minutes earlier she joined a huge caterpillar led by a talent in front of the jury, still made up of Marianne James, Hélène Ségara, Sugar Sammy and Eric Antoine. It was the latter who suggested to the production the name of the winner of “Traitors”, a show that he presented. Energetic, smiling, particularly at ease for a beginner on the small screen, the one who has 2.98 million subscribers on her YouTube channel or 3.3 million on Instagram has, obviously, quickly found her feet on a TV dinner. Between two sequences to be canned, she gave a few journalists her first impressions.

How did you get on this program?

In all honesty, I think “The Traitors” had a lot to do with it since it was my first big TV experience. I got along well with the production teams and with Eric Antoine who, I think, must have supported my profile.

Your impression of the first shoots?

Alright. At the beginning, I was very stressed. The night before the first shoot, I admit, I couldn’t sleep because it’s all new to me. I’m used to working on my own media (YouTube, Instagram and other networks) and we have the chance as content creators to really manage 100% our image and everything we do. TV is a new universe, we work with new people, so we have to be able to trust. Afterwards, M6, I’ve known them for a long time, so I knew where I was going. I spoke to Eric Antoine on the phone who reassured me quite a bit. In the end, I have a team that is just incredible and I just had to make my mark.

Compared to the work you usually do, does your relationship with the camera change a lot?

I quickly found my bearings, in the sense that, in the second part of the evening, I was really allowed to be myself. I can really bring my touch. The goal is not for people who know me from YouTube to see another person on M6.

How would you define your tone, your style?

I think he’s quite spontaneous, quite authentic. I try to bring my touch of humor and kindness. This is what characterizes me on my networks. The idea is to avoid gratuitous and mean mockery. On “Incroyable talent”, we have what I call the atypicals, who are in their own universe. I try to show by interviewing them that they ultimately have a super funny side.

What do you plan to do on social media alongside the show?

I’m going to do a backstage vlog. It’s also nice to be able to bring this to my subscribers. I think they will be happy to see behind the scenes and how it happens, to share it with me in my world which is YouTube. It’s a way of telling them: “I’m not abandoning you.” YouTube remains my baby and my priority.

Was it a dream for you to become an animator?

I really wanted to live this experience one day. I sometimes feel like I’m running my YouTube channel and I say to myself: “What would that look like on TV?” » So I wanted to test this universe. In the second part of the evening, we are quite free so, to take your first steps in television, it’s quite cool. There is no other solution than to put both feet in the dish to see if it works or it breaks.

You said you couldn’t wait to meet Karine Le Marchand and the jurors. SO ?

The meeting with Karine went very well. She is an iconic TV presenter. It was really nice to be able to chat with her, to know how things are going, if she has any advice because it’s impressive: today she doesn’t do anything with a teleprompter, she is completely spontaneous, natural. I have a lot of relatives who are fans of Karine so I was happy to come home and tell them: she’s the same with or without cameras. With the jury, the same. I am lucky to already know Eric Antoine through “Les Traitors”. I was happy to find him and meet the other jurors.

What advice did Karine Le Marchand give you?

That I had to stay myself, that if I had been asked to come and host the 2nd part of the evening, it was for what I was and that above all I had to stay as I am on my networks, that I had to trust myself. She told me not to hesitate to add my touch, to sometimes modify certain sentences when I feel that I would have said it differently. She told me that with time, I would see that we no longer need the teleprompter and that it works by itself.

Is there a big difference between what you do on the networks and on M6?

Yes, in the sense that there are teleprompters, there are things that I haven’t necessarily written and the whole challenge is to see if I’m comfortable or not. On YouTube, I am in control of everything, I don’t write, I do everything spontaneously, that’s why it’s different. Here, you have to get into the habit of saying things while maintaining your own tone. Then, it’s a bit of a first for me to have schedules because on YouTube, you do everything when you want. It’s very organized-disorganized. There, it’s more framed.

Traitors » (M6), Fort Boyard » (France 2), The Great Competition » (TF1): you were accompanied each time by your partner, Tibo InShape. There, you go it alone. He’s not too upset?

No, quite the contrary! I am lucky to share my life with someone who is very supportive. Afterwards he loves doing “Fort Boyard” because it has the sports side but it’s true that he is less attracted than me by TV and therefore by this type of project. It’s also a challenge for me because I’m lucky that it was him who put me forward on social networks at the start of our relationship, he gave me a lot of visibility, he made me a lot confidence and, he knows it, we have talked about it a lot, I have this need to prove that I can arrive in a new field by myself, prove myself and have my place, without being told: “that , you still owe it to your darling.” He understands it. I also want to make him proud by doing this.

Did he come to see you on set?

Yes, he is there almost every day. We have an apartment not very far away that we were able to rent during filming. He does his job and comes to see me for lunch. Sometimes he comes to film me backstage. It’s cool because we don’t have this competitive side towards each other.
