“The future of Renault also lies in the brand’s past,” revealed Renault chief designer Laurens van den Acker at the Geneva Motor Show. Without France’s market leader and its new icon R5 E-Tech Electric, the greatly shrunken trade fair would probably not have taken place at all. The colorful, cheerful five-door car is a pioneer of a larger retro trend: “New on offer are remakes of legends like the R5, R4 and Twingo,” says Laurens van den Acker, “the original Espace and the R16 are also potential future icons.”
