Pool, cooling mat, etc.: How to help dogs through hot days
Older dogs and dogs with thick fur in particular suffer from the summer heat

Dogs pant particularly heavily on hot days to cool down their bodies – but this only helps to a limited extent. Here are five ways you can support your pet during the summer.
Dogs can’t really sweat: they only have a few sweat glands on their paws and tongue. On hot days, however, these are not nearly enough to acclimatize the four-legged friend’s body – which is why dogs start panting to cool themselves down. However, this doesn’t work particularly well when the outside temperature is 35 to 40 degrees, so your help is needed. You can help your pet survive the heat better. 1. Cooling mat
The self-cooling mat is only activated when your dog lies on it. The cooling blanket is made of PVC and nylon, making it particularly robust, washable and water-repellent. The combination of cooling gel and foam cools your pet’s body evenly – this means its body heat can be better regulated on hot days. This way you can help prevent your dog (or cat) from completely overheating in the summer. Because this is dangerous for young puppies, older and also sick animals.

2. Cooling vest
The cooling vest for dogs ensures even more widespread cooling outdoors: Available in different sizes, there is also a cooling system built into the fabric that is activated by water. The vest is best suited to medium-sized breeds (including Border Collie or Samoyed) – for this reason, you should first measure your dog’s body circumference before deciding to purchase it. 3. Drinking fountain
On hot days, it is just as important for dogs as it is for people to drink enough water. Since your pet usually can’t pour themselves water, they need your help. But what if you’re not at home? Most dogs love splashing around in the water. But most dog owners don’t always have the time or leisure to take their four-legged friend to the nearest lake. A sensible and refreshing alternative for your four-legged friend is a small dog pool that can be set up in the garden or simply in front of or behind the house and filled with water. This gives your dog the opportunity to acclimatize in the summer – because what could be nicer than diving into the cool water on a hot day? 5. Cooling bandana
Dogs with thick fur in particular suffer from the scorching heat on hot days. You therefore need special support to avoid overheating. This not only applies to your own four walls, but also when you’re on the move – here you can use a cooling scarf that you can simply tie around your pet and thus provide the necessary cooling.
