The National Council for Refoundation will be launched on September 8, announces Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron announced on Friday August 19 that the National Council for Refoundation would be launched on September 8. The Head of State, who spoke after the ceremony of the 78ᵉ anniversary of the liberation of Bormes-les-Mimosas (Var), notably promised a “dialogue” on “the construction site of the school, health, our major public services”.

Emmanuel Macron made this proposal in early June in an interview with the regional press. He then mentioned a body supposed to bring together, in the aftermath of the legislative elections of June 12 and 19, the political, economic, social and associative forces of the country, as well as citizens drawn by lot, to launch reforms affecting purchasing power, to ecology, institutions and retreats.

“Share diagnoses”

French people are “tired of the reforms that come from above”, estimated the President of the Republic. He had mentioned discussions to reflect on the ” five “ objectives of the new five-year period: “independence (industrial, military, food, etc.), full employment, carbon neutrality, public services for equal opportunities and democratic rebirth with institutional reform”.

Government spokesman Olivier Véran explained in July that this CNR would aim to “share diagnoses nationwide on major issues” including health, education, loss of autonomy, and specified that it would associate “leaders of political parties, leaders of parliamentary groups, representatives of associations of elected representatives of the territories, representatives of intermediary bodies, unions in partnership with the Economic, Social and Environmental Council”.

Several construction sites

Asked Friday about the major back-to-school projects, Emmanuel Macron also mentioned the war in Ukraine and the need to continue diplomatic actions (…) do everything to stop it”. ” We need […] work for our energy sovereignty, to support the French, our companies in the context of this war”he insisted.

“The back-to-school agenda will also be marked by work” because “we can move towards full employment but we must continue to carry out the essential reforms, that’s what we’re going to do from this start of the school year”he said, without forgetting “regular functions, security, immigration”.

“I defended a program, we especially need unity between French women and French people, we must give back all its meaning to the word citizenship which is made up of rights and duties”he also said after being asked about the foreigners’ right to vote in local elections.
