The proposal to ban these single-use electronic cigarettes popular with young people will then be studied in the Senate for implementation at the start of the 2024 school year.
The fate of the “puffs” has been decided. The National Assembly voted unanimously this Monday, November 4, to ban these disposable electronic cigarettes with nicotine and fruity flavors, which are particularly popular with young people. They are singled out for their risks to health and the environment.
The text must then head to the Senate, for a ban hoped for by the end of summer 2024.
Tobacco Control Program
The bill was put forward by an environmentalist MP and a majority MP and is supported by the government. Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne explained that puffs gave “bad habits to young people”.
“This is how they move towards smoking,” she denounced this Sunday.
Last week, Minister of Health Aurélien Rousseau presented the national tobacco control program (PNLT) 2023-2027.
