The nanny: what is Fran Drescher doing today?

Drescher had her first small role in 1977, at the age of 20, in the music film “Saturday Night Fever”. Fran received the role of her life in 1993: she played “Fran Fine” in the TV series “The Nanny” for six years. But Drescher not only shaped the series in front of, but also behind the camera, she was the leading actress, author and producer at the same time. 1999 not only meant the end of “The Nanny”, Fran’s marriage to childhood friend Peter Marc Jacobson was divorced after 23 years. From 2014 to 2016 Fran was married to the entrepreneur Shiva Ayyadurai. Both marriages of the “Nanny” remained childless. In 2000, a tumor in her uterus was successfully removed without chemotherapy. Drescher described her experience in her book “Cancer Schmancer”. In 2007 she founded the movement of the same name, her goal: to encourage women to take part in cancer screening. Fran developed the sitcom “Happily Divorced” with her ex-husband Peter Jacobson, and in 2013 the series was discontinued after two seasons. Although Fran Drescher has almost continuously been seen in film or TV roles to this day, Fran Drescher never came close to her former success as “The Nanny”.
