The Munich techno collective Ravescape and Trikaya – Munich

The new year has just begun, and many festival visitors are already in the middle of preparing for the new season: When will which open-air event take place? Who is headlining? Which newcomers do you definitely want to hear live?

Club events in the winter months offer a foretaste, such as next Friday, when the Munich Ravescape-Collectively invites you to the all-area event together with the crew from the Trikaya Festival. 14 artists play on two stages: Ravescape in the Muffathalle, Trikaya in the Ampere. Booker Roshan Hewage from Ravescape is responsible for the line-up, and as a DJ he simply goes by his first name. In recent months he has also been involved in the newly opened DNA Club in Munich’s Werksviertel, where he is now the resident DJ.

According to him, the program at Ravescape can be summarized as follows: “Focus on great lighting and a great sound system, a family atmosphere and well-known booking.” The line-up for the weekend therefore includes both large, international artists and smaller, local musicians who Roshan and the collective have only recently discovered. He also prefers artists who not only play but also produce themselves, “and therefore have a completely different understanding of music,” explains the organizer.

In terms of genre, the selection of artists in this collaboration ranges between psytrance and hard techno. Among others, OBI, a hard techno DJ from Münsterland since the early 2000s, is a guest at the Muffathalle. At Ampere, the Munich-based Acid Sultan, who has a penchant for psychedelic sounds in his name and comes from the ranks of the Trikaya group, leads the line-up.

And Roshan himself will also play a live set with his own tracks after midnight, “not sensory overload techno, but very melancholic with long breaks and a groovy intro,” promises the DJ. For him and the Ravescape collective, the event is not only the first of the year, but also the largest they have organized to date. The group originally comes from the free rave scene, held events under bridges and in fields and thus made a name for themselves.

Today, Ravescape, which has existed for more than five years, is considered a brand in the field of electronic dance music in the Munich area. It is very likely that residents of the collective will be heard at one or two festivals this summer. Until then: warm up at the indoor rave.
