She doesn’t actually have a nickname. This didn’t stop the composer Daniel Schnyder from giving the piece the title “Rock for Max”. It is dedicated to her, the young bass trombonist Maxine Troglauer, who with this encore reinforces what she has already shown: the bass trombone is not condemned to humming that fills the symphonic background. She can easily produce the liveliest parlando and take breakneck melodic turns, at least when she’s in Troglauer’s hands.
