The mayor of Avallon indicted for “drug trafficking” and imprisoned

Jamilah Habsaoui was thus indicted as part of an investigation for “drug trafficking” and placed in pre-trial detention, the Auxerre prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday.

Alongside Jamilah Habsaoui, various left-wing mayor, five other people were also indicted as part of the same judicial investigation, said the public prosecutor in Auxerre, Hughes de Phily, in a press release.

He did not specify whether, among these suspects, included two of the mayor’s brothers who had been placed in police custody. Among these six people, including the mayor, five were incarcerated, and the sixth placed under judicial supervision.

Two brothers of the mayor implicated

The preliminary investigation, launched in October 2023 by the head of drug trafficking, made it possible to “incriminate two brothers of Jamilah Habsaoui as being able to engage in the habitual purchase and resale of narcotics from the home of Jamilah Habsaoui. their sister,” said the prosecutor.

Searches, carried out at the homes of the accused, as well as in the pharmacy where Jamilah Habsaoui works and at the town hall of Avallon, led to the seizure of 70 kg of cannabis resin and 983 grams of cocaine, “mainly” at the home. from the mayor, as well as 7,143 euros in cash and two gold bars.
