The lifeless body of a man sucked into a siphon reappears 24 hours later

In this granite canyon nicknamed “the Aqualand of the Cévennes”, everything was going well, as usual, for the best. However, two men who were practicing canyoning in the Tapoul gorges, in the Aigoual massif in Lozère, were victims of a dramatic accident, literally sucked into a water siphon. If one of them was able to escape the worst, almost miraculously, the other man who accompanied him, aged around sixty, died.

After 24 hours of searching, his body was finally found downstream from the place where the tragedy occurred, a place which is a popular spot for canyoning enthusiasts.

The practice is highly regulated and only authorized from May 1 to September 30, under conditions. It is only possible in an area demarcated by signs. Outside, the descent of the Tapoul gorges canyon is permanently prohibited.
