The killer mushroom is back: The comeback of teen star Jo Halbig – Munich

More than 750 concerts in 17 years, constantly traveling in the tour bus and sometimes in a private jet, countless photos on the cover of “Bravo”: Jo Halbig was 13 when his band “Killer Pilze” became a sensation. And now? He starts with a solo project.

The situation is unpleasant, but Jo Halbig doesn’t let it upset her. Halbig, early 30s, singer of the former punk rock teen stars Killer mushrooms, stands in the English Garden on the meadow in front of the Monopteros. It’s a sunny day in late summer, the musician wears shoulder-length hair, a Dartagnan beard, orange sunglasses, white Chucks and a blue denim jacket with cut-off sleeves. A young man stands in front of him. “Don’t you happen to know the killer mushrooms?” Nope. “Never heard the band?” Nope. “How old are you?” 17. “Okay. It’s been a really long time,” says Halbig – and plays his new song “Everyone was there” to the young man on his cell phone – everything recorded for social media.
