“Your beautiful hell”: Munich premiere with Detlef Bothe – Munich

He is one of the last indie guys the Munich cinema still has. Someone who cares deeply about German underground cinema and would rather present his work at the Hof Film Festival than stroll the red carpet in Cannes (he goes to Cannes regularly, but to the campsite). His most recent film “Your Beautiful Hell” also premiered in Hof, and now the toxic love drama about a couple who destroys each other and still needs each other can be seen in Munich: on Monday, May 6th, in the Monopol.

The film is a Bothe film through and through. On the one hand, this means that the Munich native, 58, is responsible for the book, direction, production, editing and male lead role. On the other hand, form and content are uncompromising and demanding. “Your Beautiful Hell” is almost two hours long, but never stops raging. To burn. To hurt. The film is a thorn in the smooth skin of the mainstream consumer, intense and brushed against the grain. Bothe describes it like this: a “battle between woman and man. With the weapons of narcissism, borderline, sex addiction, bipolarity, gaslighting.”

Detlef Bothe has a cameo appearance as a villain in the new Bond film. He also works as an independent director and author. His motto: “Only the paranoid survive.”

And if anyone is wondering where we know the striking bald guy from? Exactly, he was one of the villains in the James Bond spectacle “Spectre” (2015). Because that is also part of the career of the filmmaker and actor Detlef Bothe: For many years he has appeared regularly in TV and cinema films that are not primarily “indie”: from “Tatort” to “Max Schmeling” and “Anonymous” to the new film from “We children from Bahnhof Zoo”.

Your Beautiful Hell, D 2023, Munich premiere with Detlef Bothe and leading actress Ariella Hirshfeld, Monday, May 6th, 8:30 p.m., monopoly Schleißheimer Straße 127
