Israeli forces have launched an “offensive action” against southern Lebanon, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Wednesday. The latter also specified that half of the commanders of the powerful Hezbollah movement in this sector had been “eliminated”. It was not immediately clear whether Israeli forces had entered Lebanese territory.
The Israeli army had announced earlier that it had struck 40 pro-Iranian Lebanese Hezbollah targets in this southern part of Lebanon, while almost daily exchanges of fire rage on the border between the two countries. “Recently, Israeli army warplanes and artillery struck around 40 Hezbollah terrorist targets” around Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon, including storage sites weapons, the army thus justified in a press release.
The Israeli army also carried out new deadly strikes in the Gaza Strip this Wednesday, after the approval by the American Senate of military aid of 13 billion dollars to Israel in war against Palestinian Hamas.
