The installation “Parasol” by Ayzit Bostan in Munich – Munich

“Parasol” is the name of the installation. How else? Four parasols are her components and a base in which she has placed Ayzit Bostan, as if the lifeguard had forgotten to clean her up. Light, airy, light. Inviting to sit straight underneath. It doesn’t matter that they are not standing by the sea at this moment, where the waves are rushing, the seagulls are sailing and those little clouds are moving in the sky, as the Munich artist and designer has often used them as her favorite motif in other works.

The head cinema is running. Sun, wind, salt on your skin. Irresistible, unstoppable, deeply relaxing. It doesn’t matter that the ecru-colored parasols are somewhere else: in the stone-grey, very bare anteroom of the Pinakothek der Moderne. Inside “Ins Freie”, an exhibition of the Neue Sammlung, is currently running. Bostan’s friendly work draws attention to this. It could already be seen in 2021, in the middle of Paris, on the Square du Palais Galliera.

On Thursday, “Parasol” was duly inaugurated in Munich (while, by the way, at the same time another Bostan intervention is flying in Munich’s twin city Bordeaux: a flag printed with clouds): with a casual little summer party. The evening was mild, the drinks were free and Ayzit Bostan, also an experienced DJ, put on the music himself. As if ordered, the sky played along: lightning flashed over the art area, hour after hour. The rain came first and gently when most were ready to go home. And that is nice.
