The IGPN is investigating the head trauma of a man after an LBD shot

An investigation was opened after the complaint of a young man, who accuses the police of having seriously injured him with a shot from a defense bullet launcher (LBD) on June 30 in Paris, we learned this Friday from sources familiar with the matter. This man in his early twenties suffered a head trauma and had to be hospitalized for about twenty days, said the sources.

The investigations were entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) on July 17 for intentional violence committed by a person holding public authority with a weapon, on the night of June 29 to 30, said the Paris prosecutor’s office.

The facts took place during the riots

This young man was at Place des Fêtes, in the 19th arrondissement of the capital, around 3 a.m., when he said he had been hit by an LBD shot, according to one of the close sources.

The facts took place while the capital, like many other cities in the country, was the scene of nocturnal violence after the death of young Nahel, killed during a road check by a police officer on June 27 in Nanterre.

The head of the IGPN, Agnès Thibault-Lecuivre, declared on July 12 before the National Assembly’s law commission that her service had been seized of 21 investigations “of very different nature and seriousness” into the actions of the police during these demonstrations and riots.

Since July 12, this figure has evolved with now “big twenty” procedures entrusted to the IGPN, a source familiar with the matter told AFP.
