“The Hunger Games”: Do you recognize the film locations?

“The Hunger Games” opens on November 16th: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” in German cinemas. The back story tells of the origins of the Hunger Games and focuses on the life of Coriolanus Snow, who, almost 64 years later, becomes the most feared man in the country as President of Panem.

To the delight of the German fan community, a lot of scenes were filmed on German soil in the fifth part of the successful series. InPotsdamLeipzig, Cologne, Hattingen, Duisburg and especially in Berlin, the producers used several public places as film sets, including on Berlin’s Museum Island, in front of the Stalin buildings at Strausberger Platz and at the Leipzig Völkerschlachtdenkmal.

This is not the first time that the production team has been filming Germany travels. The filming of the second, third and fourth parts of the “Hunger Games” series also took place in this country. For example, Berlin Tempelhof Airport served as a rebel camp in the second film, and scenes in the underground of the Capitol were filmed in the underpass on the Messedamm of the ICC Berlin.
