The Hof Film Festival shows 154 national and international films – Bavaria

Every year in October, the Franconian metropolis of Hof becomes Germany’s film capital for six days. Or as Wim Wenders once said: “Hof, that stands for Home of Films.” This should remain the case for the 57th edition, the opening film is the German melodrama “15 Years”. A total of 154 films from all over the world will be shown, including many short films, but also feature films with top-class casts and documentaries about Mies van der Rohe or the fallen Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

The actor Robert Gwisdek presents two directing works: In addition to the short film “The Alchemist”, his feature film debut “The Boy Who Owns the World” is on the schedule. Gwisdek brings along his actors Denis Lavant and Corinna Harfouch. Julia Jentsch and Florian Lucas also want to travel to the premiere of the feature film “8 Days in August”, as does the Austrian actor Philipp Hochmair (“Everyman and I”).

It’s also worth taking a look at the international program, including films such as the French sci-fi drama “Tropic”, the refugee film “Drift”, which is set on a Greek island, or the love fairy tale “Gondola”, which was created in Georgia. The retrospective is dedicated to the director and actress Maria Schrader.
