Ile-de-France motorists will have to show a little more patience. The portion of the A13 motorway located between the Paris ring road and the A86, closed since Thursday, will remain closed for “a few more days”, the Minister Delegate for Transport, Patrice Vergriete, said on Monday.
“This evening, at the latest tomorrow, we should have a technical response which will allow us to know when we can reopen this motorway,” said Patrice Vergriete, during a trip to Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine). He recognized that the problem imposed “an effort” on Ile-de-France residents which “cannot be done over time”, specifying that the closure should still last “at least a few days”.
Ground movements involved
This section of road, very busy to the west of Paris, has been closed since Thursday evening for security reasons following “ground movements”, the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture said on Friday, indicating that the traffic ban could continue “beyond” Monday.
“During the night” from Thursday to Friday, “and on the occasion of a scheduled closure of the motorway for works, a transverse crack in the A13 in the Saint-Cloud sector was observed”, had -she clarified. The crack “runs along the end of the insertion ramp and crosses the A13 towards Saint-Cloud park, with a depth of 50 to 80 cm depending on the location,” she detailed.
Valérie Pécresse calls for free A14
Faced with the risk of saturation of alternative routes, the president of the Île-de-France Regional Council, Valérie Pécresse, pleaded on Sunday on – in order to “guarantee access to Paris for all during the work”, decrying “the terrible hassle for the people of Ile-de-France and the Normans”.
“This is an element that we will examine, like others,” said Patrice Vergriete, judging that this option did not, however, provide a response to the increase in traffic.
The A13 motorway connects Paris to Caen in Normandy via the south of Rouen. It is particularly used by Parisians wishing to go to the Normandy coast. The private company Sanef (Société des autoroutes du Nord et de l’Est de la France) operates this motorway, except between Paris and Orgeval (Yvelines), where the manager is the French State, represented by the Direction des routes d’Ile. -de-France (Dirif).
