A preliminary investigation was opened by the prosecution “for favouritism, concealment of favoritism and embezzlement of public funds” after the publication of an article by Mediapart in October, revealing that a lavish dinner valued at 150,000 euros, aimed at bringing together the regional elite and organized by the community, had been financed on the backs of taxpayers.

At the time of the case, the Region had confirmed that it had paid the bill, without having had recourse to private financing, assuming its choices. “The purpose of this event is to bring together those who work for our region, whether they come from Cantal, Drôme, the Alps or Lyon.
