A “mobile school force” for establishments “that may be experiencing difficulties. » The Minister of National Education and Youth, Nicole Belloubet, announced this Friday during a trip to Bordeaux, the creation of a new unit, for “physical protection” in schools.

The minister went to the Trégey vocational high school in Bordeaux, following threats received by the establishment last Tuesday, which resulted in the evacuation of the high school. After discussing with the educational teams, she brought together elected officials and state services for a round table dedicated to the security of educational establishments and support for staff.

A deployment envisaged for the start of the 2024 school year

“I will deploy a mobile school force which will be national, and which can be deployed in establishments which are experiencing difficulties,” explained the minister. It will allow establishments to deal with the difficulty for a fairly long time. » This school force is intended “to reassure teachers and educational teams. »

The minister’s entourage specified that this team, “composed of around twenty National Education agents” could be deployed “in the event of an acute crisis throughout the territory within 48 hours, when local resources require a additional support.” It “will have a mission of security inside the establishment, calming and education”. A meeting will take place on April 4 to “specify the contours of the system” which could see the light of day at the start of the 2024 school year.

The State “will systematically become a civil party when a complaint is filed”

Schools can already call on “mobile security teams”, a system created in 2009 and which depends on the rectorates.

Stressing that she also wanted to guarantee “legal certainty”, the minister indicated that “from now on the State will systematically take civil action when a complaint is filed”, when there are “acts of cyber-maliciousness or acts of physical attacks” against educational establishments.
