The festival “Cuckoo” for theater beginners – Munich

Leo Lionnis Narratics of Frederik, which, unlike the other field mice the year over seems to be played in idle, to collect rays of food, rays, colors and words, has lost none of their power since the sixties. On the contrary, in the two pandemia, she has recovered on topicality: because Frederik is it, which finally saves the other mice with his stories over the long winter; He shares with them in dark times his memory of the collected rays of sunshine to warm them, and to the colors to leave the winter less gray – all with words in the form of a poem. “The mouse story ‘Tillie and Frederik’, played by the Bamberger Theater of the Shadows, shows in the best case, what our festival can mean for the children,” says Masha Erbelding from the figure theater forum in the program performance of the Theater Festival “Cuckoo”.

An intensive package of experiences with all senses keep the nine national and international productions ready for the recent from six months, on the three-game town museum, Protestant family education center Elly-Heuss-Knapp (“Elly”) and Schauburg. There are events in cooperation with the book show Junior and a specialist day for educators and kindergarten ladder. The festival existing festival since 2009 fell completely from 2020, last year it was postponed from his ancestral place in the spring in June. “But this year we do as if the festival could take place again in March – it’s ideal for spring, in which everything awakens again,” says Erbelding.

Increases the festival in 2018, as the new Artistic Director of the time Schaunburg, Andrea Gronemeyer, as a third co-operation partner to the two organizers puppet theater forum, “Elly” has re was come. In her house, the festival will be opened on March 11, with the appropriately subtitled on track “Welcome, Bienvenue, Well Come!” the group Rotondes from Luxembourg: citronella, Lemonova and Monsieur Citron live not far away from each other, but that does not mean they know each other well. Nevertheless, they decide to take a vacation together. Their journey takes them away from home, but it also brings closer together. With music, movement and light design explore the three actors who are all classically trained singers, as Gronemeyer says the topic hospitality. She also sees the invited performances for the little ones as “rays of hope that help them survive”.

This is quite literally understood as the piece “night light” of the Danish-English group Teer Refleksion & Andy Manley, which is played in a cozy tent in the city museum: the blackbird sings, the day goes to the tilt. Everyone is sleeping. Except for a child that can not sleep. Because it wants to know who’s watching the night. And so begins a journey through the magic of the night, “in which the drawers and wrinkles are created about light,” says Erbelding. An adventure full of wonders, poetic images and gentle humor for children from three years, which ends that the blackbird sings and welcomes the new day.

The bright spotlights are also to be understood in the transmitted sense: because it goes to the joint experience of the children among each other, between the artists with children, but also of children and adults, which together make first aesthetic experiences, says Gronemeyer. However, it is important, emphasizes the Schaubg boss that the age recommendations would be taken seriously with the respective lower and upper limits: “There are experience with space, exercise, sound and voice that run and talk to a very concrete stage of development, such as crawling are tied – it makes no sense to bring a sibling who is too young or an older one.”

Advance ticket sales start on February 5 – not centrally, but at the respective venues Schauburg, city Museum and “Elly”.
