Very, very good year for the French handball clubs. After Paris Wednesday, it’s the
HBC Nantes who qualifies this Thursday evening for the Final 4 of the Champions League. Beaten only by two goals (32-30) in the return match at Veszprem after their 32-28 victory in the first leg last week, the Nantes residents therefore reach the second Final 4 of the Champions League in their history. This will be played in Cologne (June 12-13).

After giving the biggest players a hard time in the group stage, which he finished 6th, then eliminating the Poles from Kielce in the round of 16, the “H” made a new coup on Thursday night, ahead of more than 4,300 disappointed Hungarian supporters.

Since the 2014/15 season, Veszprem has indeed participated in six of the last seven editions of Final 4, and was finally aiming for a first continental title after three lost finals. But it is the Nantes people who will have a new chance, after their epic in 2018, where they beat PSG in the semi-final before losing in the final against Montpellier.

The handball players of Paris SG qualified on Wednesday by beating the defending champions Kiel 34 to 28 on Wednesday night in Paris. Among women, Brest is also qualified for the Final 4 of the Champions League.
