Exactly 50 years after “The Exorcist”, a new sequel is supposed to scare viewers. Now the first trailer for the goosebumps horror is here.

On October 12, “The Exorcist: Confession”, a direct sequel to the horror film classic “The Exorcist” by William Friedkin (87), will be released in German cinemas. It tells the creepy story of two young girls who are possessed by something abysmal evil. A first trailer agrees on the goosebumps horror.

That’s what “The Exorcist: Confession” is about

The two friends Angela (Lidya Jewett, 16) and Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear in a forest for days. When they reappear, the girls don’t remember anything, but begin to behave strangely. In the face of increasingly horrific events, Angela’s single father Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr., 41) decides to seek help from the only person who has ever been through something similar: Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn, 90).

Original actress Burstyn, now 90, returns to the franchise for the new Exorcist sequel. “Confession” from director and co-writer David Gordon Green (“Halloween, 48) ignores previous sequels such as “The Exorcist III” (1990).

Rather, the horror film in the style of Green’s new “Halloween” trilogy, which was released between 2018 and 2022, directly follows the legendary original. Another trilogy is planned. The second part, titled The Exorcist: Deceiver, is scheduled to hit theaters in April 2025.
