“The tree belongs at the negotiating table”
Reading time: 5 mins
Johann Taschner and Max Finster worked together for 40 years in the Ebersberg nature conservation authority. Before they leave, they talk about conflicts with superiors and changes in the animal and plant world – and explain why they are against sacrificing trees for wind turbines.
Interviewed by
Corbinian Eisenberger, Ebersberg
For four decades, Max Finster and Johann Taschner made decisions about nature conservation. Does the neighbor have to trim his oak tree? Is it allowed to clear spruces in the biotope? Anyone who wanted to fell or build could not avoid the two. The most recent issue was the contentious question of whether wind turbines should be built in the Ebersberg Forest. The two 65-year-olds from the lower nature conservation authority have carried out countless such conflicts. And among themselves they often disagreed. Nevertheless, they address each other as “Hanse” and “Maxe”.
