The Duke and Duchess of Sussex send good wishes to the Princess of Wales and Charles III

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have taken a step towards appeasement. The couple, exiled in the United States, sent their wishes for recovery to Charles III, as well as to their sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, both hospitalized these days.

“The Duke and Duchess have contacted both parties in various ways to express their concern and best wishes,” a royal source told the Mirror.

The problem is that it is not impossible that Prince Harry learned the news of his father’s operation on Buckingham’s official social networks before even being contacted privately. According to the publication, officials would have tried to inform all members of the royal family in advance before the news was made public on Wednesday. However, the announcement had to be brought forward as the king was forced to cancel impending public engagements.

Strong symbol

This all comes a few weeks after a new controversy, which identifies King Charles III, 75, and the Princess of Wales, 42, as being at the heart of the racial dispute around the skin color of Archie, the child eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aged four. To top it off, a new biography of the king, on sale this week, claims the Sussexes’ decision to name their two-year-old daughter Lilibet infuriated the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In this stormy context, the gesture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is a strong symbol. Will it be enough to ease tensions?

Regardless, the Princess of Wales is doing well following her abdominal operation, and could remain at the London Clinic for another week to 10 days before being transferred to Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, to continue her recovery until Easter. Prince William, 41, like Kate Middleton’s parents, freed up his schedule to be at her side and take care of their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and the prince Louis, five years old.

At his private residence in Birkhall, Aberdeenshire, King Charles is preparing to undergo surgery to treat benign prostate enlargement.
