At the origin of a dramatic accident which cost the life of a mother and her daughter on Sunday evening in Brandivy (Morbihan), a 25-year-old young man was indicted on Tuesday for involuntary homicide aggravated by driving under the worsening of an alcoholic state and hit-and-run and involuntary injuries aggravated by the same circumstances. Placed in pre-trial detention pending trial, he faces ten years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.

The drama began around 7 p.m. on a departmental road in this small rural town. While walking down the road, a 30-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter were hit by a car. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the two victims died. The father, who was walking alongside them, was taken care of in a state of shock by the medical services.

A blood alcohol level of 1.7 grams

After the collision, the driver fled before being quickly identified and arrested by the gendarmes. His blood alcohol test came back positive with a blood alcohol level of 1.7 grams. Aged 25, he is “unknown to justice and socially integrated”, specifies in a press release the parquet floor of Vannes.

In police custody, the young man admitted “being the driver in question”, indicating that he had taken the drunk driving “to return home”. According to his comments reported by the prosecution, he would not have “not realized that he had hit two people”.
