Now the Federal President has made it to Ukraine after all. Six months after Kyiv refused to welcome him and a week after security concerns thwarted travel plans, Frank-Walter Steinmeier has finally arrived in the war-torn country. First of all, this is a good sign. Because it puts an end to months of turmoil between Berlin and Kyiv. In the Federal President’s Office on Tuesday, they spoke with relief of “a history of reconciliation” between the presidents of the two countries.
