Paulina Schulz is a music producer, DJ and doctor. It sounds strange at first, what should the professions have in common? But they do: They help people feel good, if not better – physically and mentally. In order to do justice to this, the Berliner focuses on: DJ Gigola first on the former, recorded their debut album “Fluid Meditations” at the beginning of the year and plays in clubs every weekend. This was also the case on September 29th lightning in Munich.
Their sets are rhythmic, take off or put the listeners into a meditative trance. DJ Gigola lets the genres merge with each other, dance and pop music from the 2000s to today are added to techno-pop or hip-hop and get the crowd dancing.
Dancing is the keyword that actually lies behind the name Gigola hides. It is derived from the Old French word “Gigole” and means something like “dancing woman”, which actually has nothing in common with the gigolo. Although: Schulz sees himself as both. She was once the only woman with her Label Live From Earthwhich stirred them up.
Since then there have been a few releases such as “Suenño” or “No Es Amor” in 2020 Kev Koko, before their debut album “Fluid Meditations” was released in 2023, with which Gigola races from one club to the next. This year we went to Liverpool, London, Madrid and Rotterdam, among others. And after she played at the Munich Blitz on the 29th, the next day she went on to southern Italy for the Sound Department Closing Party in Taranto. Because DJ Gigola appears in the top lists of Groove Magazine and the DJ Magazine in London, who have long had them on their radar as the best DJ.
In the Blitz DJ Gigola will be together with Interplanetary Criminal from Manchester and resident Vince touted as a “cheeky” combination. While Gigola pushes the controls with rebellious Berlin charm and brings the German city to life in a contemporary way, Interplanetary Criminal takes care of the northern English part. The DJ is considered one of the most exciting figures in the “NUKG”, the New UK Garage scene, and has performed with “BTAO ” released one of the dance music hits of the year in 2022. In rave mode, Vince ensures a smooth and smooth finish.
