The body was discovered in a bag abandoned in a building struck by fire. The first examinations carried out made it possible to establish that the death of the infant found on Tuesday in Quesnoy (North) dates back “a few days”, according to the public prosecutor ofAvesnes-sur-Helpe Laurent Dumaine.
Unknown causes
The first findings of the forensic doctor do not make it possible “to determine the causes of the infant’s death”, he added in a press release, specifying that “additional examinations” will be organized “soon” in order to “determine whether this infant lived and, if applicable, the possible causes of his death. An investigation was opened to “search for the causes of death”.
A source close to the investigation told AFP on Tuesday that this body had been discovered in “a bag from which a very strong odor emanated”.
