Two teenage girls fall from the roof of an abandoned factory, one of them killed, the other seriously injured

A 15-year-old girl was killed on Saturday when she fell through the roof of an abandoned factory in Unieux; in the Loire, and another 17 year old was seriously injured in this fall, we learned from the firefighters and the municipality. “The two victims are part of a group of four young people who broke into this industrial wasteland straddling my town and the neighboring town of Fraisses,” declared Christophe Faverjon, the PCF mayor of Unieux.

The two other people from this group of urbex practitioners (the exploration of urban wastelands), “witnesses of the accident and shocked were taken care of by the emergency services”, specified the latter who were called to the scene at midday.

Soon to be demolished

The Swedish steel group Akers closed this factory in 2010, which then employed 120 employees. Installed on a 6.5 hectare site, now owned by the community, it occasionally attracts squatters, graffiti artists, urbex practitioners or people who use it as illegal dumping.
