Two days after the fatal hunting accident in Brittany, the investigation is continuing to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. Sunday afternoon, during a wild boar hunt in the town of Goudelin (Côtes-d’Armor), a 67-year-old woman of British nationality died after being accidentally hit by a rifle shot from her companion.
“The hunters were advancing through a mowed corn field when one of them, a 69-year-old man, in circumstances yet to be determined, fired his rifle, which he was carrying on his shoulder, barrel pointed rearward. The shot reached his companion, invited to this beat, and whose bullet caused a transfixing wound above the heart, ”reported Sunday in a press release Nicolas Heitz, public prosecutor.
Heard twice by investigators
The author of the shot was immediately placed in custody before being transported in a state of shock to Guingamp hospital. “The doctor considered that his condition was not compatible with the measure which was therefore lifted”, explained Nicolas Heitz, specifying that the samples immediately taken “demonstrated that he had not consumed alcohol, nor of toxic substance”.
Monday noon, the sexagenarian was again placed in police custody where he was heard “twice in extremely detailed fashion” on the circumstances of the facts. “His presence not being necessary for the continuation of the investigations, the police custody measure was lifted yesterday evening,” said the public prosecutor on Tuesday. New witnesses must be heard in the coming hours by the investigators.
