They too will finally be able to reopen, thanks to the lifting of health constraints. The peri-urban shelters of the metropolis of Bordeaux, these unusual places scattered all over the city, and which allow you to spend a night, free of charge, to discover the territory’s natural resources in an original way, were also closed due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Bordeaux Métropole announces this Thursday that
first bookings will be taken from Tuesday, June 15, for a start of overnight stays on July 1. “During this tenth season truncated by the Covid crisis, registrations are made, as in previous years, exclusively online, on the site of the Bordeaux Métropole refuges. The eleven shelters closed for over a year will be the subject of some repairs and a major cleaning orchestrated by the municipalities in June.

Open three days a week

In the context of the health crisis, precautionary measures will be put in place this year. Most shelters will therefore only be open three days a week in order to space out occupations, and the cleaning of the shelters will be reinforced before and after each use.

“Both artistic objects and tools for enhancing metropolitan landscapes”, peri-urban shelters were imagined and designed by Bruit du Frigo, in partnership with Zébra3. From La Vouivre in Ambès to La Station orbitale in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, via Le Tronc hollow in Pessac, nearly 8,000 people went there in 2019, compared to 7,000 in 2018.
