The “Cévennes killer” sentenced to thirty years in prison

Valentin Marcone, nicknamed the “Cévennes killer”, was sentenced this Monday evening by the Gard Assize Court to thirty years in prison, with a security period of fifteen years. He was prosecuted for the murder of his boss and one of his colleagues in 2021 in a sawmill in the Cévennes.

A sentence in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, which had however requested a security sentence of twenty years, the jurors ruled out premeditation in their verdict. They also considered that the accused, aged 32, was suffering from disorders which impaired his discernment at the time of the facts.
