“The altitude was horrible”, confides Colette, first eliminated with her niece Léa

Colette had dreamed, for five years, of taking part in Beijing Express. She granted her wish by joining the cast of the seventeenth season of the M6 adventure game alongside her niece Léa. But, for the Marseillaise, the experience has partly turned into a nightmare. In the first episode, broadcast this Thursday, we saw her suffering from altitude sickness during her wanderings in Bolivia.

“The altitude was horrible, it was very hard. I had a lot of trouble breathing,” she told 20 minutes. She had to take a long break during the hitchhiking in order to be examined by the medical staff. “We fell behind and it was felt on the rest of the race”, underlines Léa. Indeed, the pair was the first eliminated.

“For me, it was hard to leave first, but there’s no point in dwelling on it. I had a good experience, I took full advantage of it and I saw beautiful things”, puts Colette into perspective, particularly marked by “the magnificent landscapes” and “the adorable Bolivians”. For his niece, the best moment will remain the zip line event. “Flying over Lake Titicaca at 120 km/h was exceptional. It will remain an image and a moment forever engraved in my heart and in my head. »

“We would have chosen to face Angie and Nathalie”

For the final duel, the duo discovered the new rule, that of the secret choice. It’s no longer the team who arrived last who decides who they will face, but all the pairs who designate the second pair to put on the hot seat… “That suited us. We said to ourselves that at least we wouldn’t have to designate and therefore disappoint anyone, ”says the young nurse. The majority of the other participants have thus designated Angie and Nathalie, the pair of unknowns. “It fell rather well because they are the ones we would have chosen, in relation to affinities. We didn’t want to choose on the basis of who was the strongest or the weakest, ”says Léa.

The niece and the aunt returned to the south of France in stride, but, they assure it, their few days of adventure have “even more reinforced” their bonds which were “already very strong”. “In the game, we always got along well, complemented each other well. It made us want to go back,” says Léa. But if they take off again as adventurers, it will be this time without the pressure of the cameras on their heels.
