The 77-year-old driver who mowed down a teenager in front of her high school indicted

On Thursday a 15-year-old girl died leaving her high school in Vendée. The drama took place in front of the Edouard-Branly establishment in La Roche-sur-Yon, at 6 p.m. The young girl was “hit by a vehicle while she was crossing the road on the pedestrian crossing when leaving the high school,” detailed public prosecutor Sarah Huet this Saturday in a press release. Despite their “immediate” intervention, “the emergency services were not able to save the young girl”.

The motorist responsible for the accident is a woman “aged 77”. She “was taken to hospital in a state of shock,” announced the public prosecutor of La Roche-sur-Yon. “Then placed in police custody, she indicated that she had not seen the young girl who was crossing,” continues the magistrate.

Investigations continue

This Saturday afternoon, the septuagenarian was “indicted for involuntary manslaughter by a driver and was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on driving any land motor vehicle”. Investigations are continuing to determine the causes of this road tragedy.

Friday, the eve of the school holidays, a psychological unit was opened at the Edouard-Branly high school.
