The 2024/2025 season will begin on the weekend of August 16, five days after the Olympics

The 2024/2025 Ligue 1 season will begin, like that of Ligue 2, on the weekend of August 16, five days after the end of the Paris Olympic Games, according to the LFP calendar unveiled on Friday.

This calendar was validated by the executive committee of the French Football Federation by “taking into account the State’s request not to organize competitions before and during the Olympic Games”, indicates the League in a press release.

The winter break will take place after the 15th day of Ligue 1, scheduled for the weekend of December 13. The players will not, however, put away their crampons since they will play the weekend following the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, usually organized in January. The Coupe de France final will be held on May 25, 2025.

The resumption will take place on the weekend of January 3, 2025 with the 16th day, while the 34th and final day of Ligue 1 will be played on the weekend of May 17, 2025.

The weekend of August 16, 2024 will also mark the start of Ligue 2 which will increase to 18 clubs and therefore 34 days, ending on the weekend of May 10, 2025.

If no Ligue 1 day is scheduled during the week, two Ligue 2 days will be scheduled on Tuesday September 24, 2024 for the 6th day and Tuesday October 29, 2024 for the 11th day.

Regarding the play-offs, the first between the 4th and 5th in Ligue 2 will take place on Tuesday May 13, 2025. The winner of this match will face the 3rd in Ligue 2 in a second play-off scheduled for Friday May 16, 2025.

The first leg of the play-offs for accession to Ligue 1 will take place on Thursday May 22, 2025 while the return match will take place on Sunday May 25, 2025. The double confrontation will pit the 16th in Ligue 1 Uber Eats against the winner of the play-offs of League 2.
