Since Monday, Portuguese rescue has been trying to find a 16-year-old Frenchman who disappeared off Faial, in the Azores archipelago, while he was snorkeling. Wednesday, the French Surfing Federation has indicated that the young man was Jules Prou, a hope of the discipline, originating from the island of Ré.
“We extend our condolences to his parents Charlotte and Benjamin, to his brother Valentin and to their family, writes the authority in a press release. We are with them in this ordeal and give them our full support. Our thoughts also go out to all the members, leaders and young surfers of the Pôle Espoir Bretagne, the ESB surf club and the Surf Club Rétais where Jules started surfing. »

According to the Portuguese authorities, the alert about the disappearance of Jules Prou had been given “by a representative of a tourism company specializing in maritime activities”. “In agreement with the family, we will communicate on the ceremonies to come to honor the beautiful person that was Jules and to bring his memory to life”, communicated the French Surfing Federation.
