An error which, for the time being, did not cost him much. A man from Mexico took advantage of a computer bug on the website of the luxury brand Cartier to buy jewelry at a ridiculous price. For gold and diamond earrings, he only spent 13 euros instead of 13,000 euros, says the Spanish media El Mundo. Or 1,000 times cheaper!
This story took place last December but the man only talked about it on X (formerly Twitter) recently. He says he was browsing the official Cartier website when he saw a pair of earrings priced at 237 Mexican pesos, or 13 euros. “I took advantage of the opportunity and even ordered two pairs,” he admits, with supporting photos.

The company accepted his payment, before announcing by email that the product was finally out of stock and that he would be refunded. But the man didn’t believe it since the earrings were still available in the brand’s online catalog. He immediately thought that the company had lied to him so as not to have to send him his purchase at the listed price. He filed a complaint and alerted Profeco, Mexico’s consumer rights regulatory agency.
To encourage him to give up his purchase, Cartier then offered to send him a bottle of champagne and a passport case in exchange. But the man refused and again demanded the jewelry he had purchased. He continued his efforts and Profeco agreed with him. The luxury brand should therefore send him his order soon.
