TF1 will broadcast at the beginning of the afternoon, after its 1 p.m. news, the series “Plus belle la vie”, taken over from the competing channel France 3 after more than a year of shutdown, the group’s CEO announced on Sunday. Rodolphe Belmer was interviewed by the daily Le Figaro on this series of which new episodes are being filmed.
On January 8, “the popular soap opera ‘Plus belle la vie’ will make its comeback on the air, just after 1 p.m. and its 4 million viewers,” explained the leader of the leading French television group. He clarified that this time slot was chosen because the viewers had the same profile. “The target is affinity”, in the words of Rodolphe Belmer.
“Plus belle la vie”, which recounts the adventures of multiple characters in a picturesque district of Marseille, began in 2004. It became the longest series in the history of French television, with its 4,665 episodes up to in November 2022, broadcast at the same time as the 8 p.m. news TF1 And France 2.
This program reached peak audiences of 6 million viewers in 2008, ending up with around 2.5 million followers. The series was mourned by the deaths of two of its actors this year.
