Driver dies in flood while talking to her husband on the phone

A woman’s husband and friends in Texas were searching for the 60-year-old during severe flooding when phone contact was lost. Then they discovered the mother of three dead in her car.
A woman in Mesquite, Texas, was on the phone with her husband when severe flooding swept away her car, killing the 60-year-old woman. The Uber driver had just delivered her last passenger on Monday and was on her way home when her car was hit by the flood of water, US media reports, citing the police. She told her husband that it felt like her vehicle was being “pushed” as the floodwaters filled the street.
“According to the family, she said she felt like she was being nudged, like someone was pushing her, and that was the water pushing her on,” the source said NBC News Brandon Ricketts of the Mesquite Police Department. “You don’t realize how little water is needed to lift a vehicle […] and then it’s too late.”
Friends of the dead confirmed that US page “Today” The woman said she was on the phone with her husband of 20 years when her car filled with water. First it rose to the ankles, then to the knees, and then the call ended.
Heavy rains and flash floods in Texas
The friends and husband were just looking for the woman when contact with her was lost, said Mesquite Fire Chief Rusty Wilson, according to “Today”. The husband was the first to spot the wheels of her overturned car under a bridge not far from where she lost control. The police and fire brigade would have recovered the Hyundai after the water masses had receded and found the mother of three children lifeless in it.
Mesquite, a suburb east of Dallas, is one of several central and southeast Texas cities hit by heavy rain and flash flooding earlier in the week. At least six inches of rain fell in the Dallas-Fort-Worth area in 24 hours, the highest in the past eight months.
