TESTIMONY – Stuck for 2 hours in the Paris metro: “A baby was screaming, people were trying to call the police…”

A plainclothes policeman takes out his armband and tries to calm the situation, but “It was very complicated. The most angry threatened to break a window, and ended up forcing a door. From there, people started to descend on the tracks, in the tunnel. I understood that the traffic would not resume, I got out myself, we were only about sixty meters from the Cité station platform. We literally saw the light at the end of the tunnel. To get off the metro train, there are at least 1.50m, it was difficult for the elderly, tourists with large suitcases. But people helped each other and came out quite calmly. We walked along the walls”.

The relief of finding the open air will arrive after 2h15, for an initial journey which was to last… 16 minutes. “No one died, but that does not contribute to building a safe transport offer. For the return trip, I avoided taking the metro…”
