Tesla’s only e-car factory in Europe to date will be connected to the public railway network with its own train shuttle. The company announced on Thursday that the new shuttle should run between the Erkner train station in the Oder-Spree district and the factory premises in Grünheide in Brandenburg from September 4th. The train will commute almost 60 times a day from Monday to Friday and thus bring more than 1,500 employees directly to the factory premises at the shift change alone. According to Tesla, the trips are free and can also be used by citizens. It is intended to replace the existing bus shuttle between Erkner and the factory and relieve a shuttle from the catch lock – and thus also the car traffic around the city of Erkner.

The Brandenburg State Office for Construction and Transport approved the shuttle in February. Commissioning was already planned for the second quarter of 2023 – between April and June. Tesla has been officially producing electric cars in Grünheide near Berlin since March 2022. According to Tesla, around 11,000 people were last employed there.
