Bus driver Daniel Kanievski told the Israeli broadcaster Kan: “The door was opened for a wheelchair – then the shots were fired. Two people were injured on the bus and two outside.”

An eyewitness told the broadcaster: “It lasted 10 to 15 seconds. He fired about ten bullets. There was nobody who could neutralize him.”

“According to a passerby, a terrorist started shooting at the bus indiscriminately,” the paramedic was quoted as saying by the Jerusalem Post. When the emergency services reached the scene of the incident, there was a great commotion. People had panicked.

Israeli Prime Minister Jair Lapid said after the crime: “The security forces are working to arrest the terrorist and will not rest until he is caught.” Anyone who harms civilians will pay a price.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post, citing police sources, reports that the Palestinian perpetrator turned himself in early Sunday morning.

A spokesman for the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, called the attack a “natural reaction to the arrogance of the occupying soldiers and Zionist settlers and their daily crimes against our people, our country and our Islamic and Christian holy sites”. He spoke of Israel’s continued incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque.

About a week ago, Israel eliminated high-ranking terrorists in the Gaza Strip. In revenge, supporters of the group “Islamic Jihad” fired more than 1,000 rockets in the direction of Israel within a few days. Most were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. A ceasefire was finally sealed last Monday.

In the spring there was also a wave of terror in Israel. A total of 19 civilians were killed in the attacks. Three of the terrorists were killed.
